2nd letter to Naima

Its been over a month now that you have been gone and to tell you the truth most of us haven't missed you in the slightest (joke).

I can’t believe shukri has popped over to Egypt for a week. But its good new for you as we piled Shukri with all the goodies me a muna could think off.

Life definetaly goes on things that have happened:

I ‘ave been adopted by muna cos she loves me ha ha ha.

The party was such a danceathon my feet were so sore it’s not a joke. Then when we got back home Jude and dizzy decided talk till the crack of dawn I could have killed them both.

The next day was the wedding and was that a manic rush I was incharge of the project which Scout twin had asked me to set up but when I got there I couldn’t get the screen to work then once I did that we couldn’t find an extension lead to plug in the projector.

The Teacher twin looked like a proper princess she was gorgeous. The setting was informal and you missed me looking Wooohooo he he he.

Sadia was there with Nadia, Sofia and Shabham it was nice seeing everyone together. Sadia wedding is only six weeks away. Arghhhhhh (I haven’t thought of a present yet). She is soo stressed poor little bunny.

The weather here keeps fluctuating between windy and clear. One minute it looks like it’s a nice summers day the next it looks like the storm of the century. I give up.

I brought a car lol(with Dizzy of course). Its navy blue with a couple of scratches but for grand and 100 what more could I ask for.

Right enough about us and now to you

Where are you now in the wider sense of the word?

You’re probably feeling slightly homesick but you are still buzzing that you are here.

You still have to pinch yourself that you are here and its not a dream that some is going to wake you up from.

You will look at the beaches (well the nice bits) run the sand through your fingers and know that you are here.

You can stand at the sea edge and wander in amazement of the sea crashing at your feet and how small you are in comparison to the sea. That every pull of the sea pulls at you to join some thing bigger than you.

Watching the sea and you will feel the calmest you have ever been and the best bit is it will only get better. You will hear the roar of the sea in your soul and sometimes you can hear it lulling you to sleep even though you may not be anywhere near it.

By now you will have found the nice places to eat i.e. the grand and the fish market (near Abu Abbas) which is expensive but for a Friday night out its cool.

You will have smelt Khalid bin Walid the longest road in Alexandria. You find the weird and wonderful things that are available. You can get an eyeliner for a pound.

Scarves are more expensive here so wait till you do a visit to Cairo and you are more fluent in the language.

Hows the food?

There is the fish bloke at the end (or the of the begin depends on your point of view)of the road he’s really nice and for 90p(English) you can get like 2 fried fish.
If you across over Khalid Bin Walid and walk toward the sea on the same road you will see the internet café but more interesting is the bread man you get five pieces of bread for 10p.

Grab some lemons of the cart and you have a ready made meal.

Breakfast may be an issue especially if you have morning lesson as most place are just getting ready.

But if you have a nice fridge, get some fruit the day before and you will be fine.

Say salaam to Shireen and tell her I teach one of her ex students Serena

Have you made any mates? Silly question I know you could make friends with the guy sat next to you on the bus. Ha ha ha

Hows Sara ? she getting ready for her wedding and she is the one to ask about the specs but make sure that you have your prescription ready.

Blow a kiss into the air for me in the air to say I miss Egypt.

Love ya

Its a manic monday (some should sing its a manic life)

It’s been a hectic couple of weeks since I written so here goes what I have done since I last wrote:

Went on Half term which would mean that I was on break however its didn’t work out like that every morning it was trip to the aquatic centre for Mr Sunshine’s swimming lessons.

After that it was all the errands I needed to do.

Monday it was a mad rush to post off all the exam papers that I had marked over the last week, meeting a mate who had a rare day off.

Tuesday I was suppose to go tutor someone but I got the days wrong so that didn’t happen but a trip to the myf end my day there.

Wednesday I can’t even remember where that went. Watched harry Dresden Yay yay

Thursday was tutoring day then go shopping for dizzy as she had a couple of things she needed me to pick up for the party.

Friday was Jumma, waxing and getting ready for the party. Then going to the party.

Saturday was Teacher twins wedding sob sob!!!

Sunday was getting down to marking all the coursework I was supposed to have done over the last week.

Then it was back to work.

Monday brought a car!!!!! Me an’ dizzy are official drivers. Pls make dua’s that we don’t encounter any accidents and that car runs well Ameen ameen

Tuesday drove the car to work so I could go to the gym later on. Went to Myf and caught up with everyone.

Wednesday I had a miserable day which was partially out of my stupidity.

Thursday I am sat here writing this.

The end well for now.

Some interesting info about starfish below….

I thought it was funny so i thought i would share!!!!

If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee. (Hardly seems worth it.)

If you farted consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb. (Now that's more like it!)

The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps out to the body to squirt blood 30 feet. (O.M.G.!)

A cockroach will live nine days without its head before it starves to death. (Creepy.)

Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories a hour
(Don't try this at home, maybe at work)

The flea can jump 350 times its body length.
It's like a human jumping the length of a football field

The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds.
(What could be so tasty on the bottom of a pond?)

Butterflies taste with their feet.
(Something I always wanted to know.)

The strongest muscle in the body is the tongue.
(Hmmmmmm......)

Right-handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people.
(If you're ambidextrous, do you split the difference?)

Elephants are the only animals that cannot jump. (Okay, so that would be a good thing)

A cat's urine glows under a black light.(I wonder who was paid to figure that out?)

An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain. ( I know some people like that.)

Starfish have no brains (I know some people like that too.)

Polar bears are left-handed. (If they switch, they'll live a lot longer)

Now that you've smiled at least once, it's your turn to spread these crazy facts and send this to someone you want to bring a smile to, maybe even a chuckle.

Letter 1 to Naima.

To my long bean of a friend who decided to abandon me for the dizzying joys of arabic

Its been 2 weeks since you’ve gone. And man does it feel strange not only cos there is no one to beat up but when you text I have to text back instead of ringing you back damm it. Things are nice an' slow in terms of change here.

Oh yeah the insurance company where not going to give me a replacement phone so I rang on the hour every hour until they said they were going to give me a replacement or money to replace it.

They soooooooooooo had no idea who they were messing with. That’s all the excitement that’s happened so far.

On Saturday we did a do for Sara and Eman they are off to London. Gutted!!!!!

And that was the start of the really funky weather. There was so much fog that Jude didn’t make it to Manchester. And everyone was driving about 10 miles an hour.

We are in the middle of a frost snap. Its like -1.5 at the moment and at night it falls down to -3 or 4.

So while you may think its cold in Egypt its got nothing on Manchester. Its also suppose to snow 2mrw emmmm.

I have been to 2 Arabic lessons with Native uncle. He’s really sweet. My last homework took about 4 hrs to do on a Saturday.

Cos of your blog there is nothing to ask really bout how things are going and how settled you are.

Your flat mates sound really nice. Man I wish I was there , I can’t even afford the airfare to come over in Easter. And you are coming back to England before I can come over in the summer.

I am glad the books are coming handy, I mean there wasn’t much that I could give or advise you on. As your parent had already given you the religious knowledge to fall back on, your sisters had given you love and support, and me I gave noodles and books.

My gift to you isn’t a thoughtless one as some may think but those who know you and me know that reading is not a hobby or just something we do for the sake of it.

Its like the need to drink water, if we don’t get the right amount of water we get slightly grumpy.

The noodles were the emergency food as I wasn’t too sure of your cooking skills been the last time you cooked for me was ermmmmmmmm never.

Dude you have to see the size of my new bag, its huuuuuuuuuuge and all because my green bag has taken a trip to a different continent, sigh! sigh!

Wot else is there!! Nothing much but guess what’s coming on TV over here…….

Harry Dresden the series ha ha ha

You can see the trailers on you tube.

Love loads your nutter of a friend

point me in the right direction

Looking around me I wonder where everyone fits and where I fitting.

Sometimes I feel like a square peg trying to fit in a slot that’s circular.

I want to foster I really do but then I get the but shouldn’t I get married first or aren’t you a bit young. Apparently been in your twenties is when you should be selfish.

That a load of crock. I can be selfish when I want to be, when I just want to shut everyone out and read or hide my junk food from everyone. That’s my selfish I can’t see wot other things would bother me about having children.

Plus has anyone thought maybe just maybe I am not meant to be married and this is wot I am suppose to be doing. Think about all the money i would save that could go towards a nice house. Can someone explain that to my family pls!!!!!

I don’t think its like I want to be know as martyr or a saint I want to do something that changes the society that we live in.

Some people are great cos they have the political ambition, can take the time out to join groups that kind of thing. Others speak out in their art whether its written or drawn.

Me I just want the one to one change. I believe that if every capable muslim couple took in a child who needed care we would not be in the situation that we are in. Did you know there is only a small minority of people who are muslim foster parents in Manchester.

Why fostering………………………………………………………………………

Because at the end of the day that one child that I may have had a chance to save from harm or future harm.

Also there are so many forms of fostering, I can become a foster parent straight way or start of with lodgers i.e. kids who are 16-17 that are going to be exiting the care system.

I can have this conversation with loads of different types of people but there hasn’t been one who has said yeah actually go and do it, who cares if you are married or not.

I mean why am I dependant on a fella who I then have to take into consideration.

I want someone to say yes you are right and maybe it’s the thing you are meant to do.

Which is why I feel like a square peg cos I want children and I don’t mind if they are mine, his or anyone’s.

To feel the unconditional love that children have for their carer is the one thing you can never buy.

Again people there is only a limited amount of things that I can say that happens in my life. Much of which is unlikely to amuse, or entertain you.

Let me break it down

I go to work, go the gym. Come home, mark exam papers, annoy Shams if he’s not a sleep and that is it.

If I manage to get a spare minute I am doing my Arabic homework, helping out college at the annual play or trying to read.

Oh and trying to find a car, a job for a couple of people and applying for TESOL courses for over the summer.

Marriage wise there have been some serious disappointment.

I am no further in my 2 year than I was 3 months ago.

Ladies my life is sooooooooooo mundane. The only spark at the moment is reading new books.

Everyone has managed to get away or something is happening in their lives which is why its nice reading other peoples as they have things to say.

Actually I do have things to say but they are more rhetorical rambles of a really bored person.

So people that cover its.
